The Bendi will allow more pallets to be stored in a given floor area. This is due to the small turning aisle width. The Bendi can load a lorry straight from the racking avoiding the need for double-handling of pallets. Industry-leading 1.6 metre aisles make a huge difference to storage density, even over other articulated forklift trucks.
The typical Reach truck requires aisles of 2.5 to 3 metres for storage in racking, but reach trucks typically have smaller harder wheels and low ground clearance, making outdoors use impractical. This can mean extra outside trucks and double-pallet handling.
The most common form of forklift truck is very capable but lacks space efficiency. To handle a similar load to the Bendi, it's aisle would be two-three times the width, meaning less storage density.
VNA machines make pretty good use of the available space through narrow aisles. The downfall of the cumbersome design is that they need large areas and long times to transfer between aisles.
As VNA machines are dedicated warehouse trucks requiring superflat floors, they need additional types of trucks as support, increasing costs and double handling.
